Which is better, Torium Shimano or Daiwa Saltist? ?
I will be fishing off the docks in North Carolina and was looking to get a spool of new put it on a bar 12 feet (do not know what kind yet) any suggestions? Or perhaps another reel?
Both Saltist and have excellent response Torium Bass Pro and Cabelas. Anyway I think it would have a fine reel. (Although, from what I read, if you decide to get Saltist, get the one that is black, but keep it clean the most.) Are you sure you do not want a reel with level wind? if your making any casting you may want better or more easy casting with a Levelwind reel. You can buy 2 Abu Garcia C-4 reels (6600 C4 / $ 100) cheaper than 1 Shimano, Torium. Tail of the C-4 with Power Pro 12/50 and get approximately 350-375 meters from the line. With the C-4 will be able to cast further and easier and able to buy 2 coils instead of just 1. However, a smoker greatest king of 25-30lb would overwhelm the resistance of the coil size (but might be the most fun). You may want to look at an Abu Garcia 7000 C3i (around $ 149). The 7000 can handle almost anything. Personally, if I were you, I would buy a C Abu-4 6600 (to deal with a light spool $ 99/matched a tiger 8 'Ugly Stik rod) and a Shimano Speedmaster as my primary. Speedmaster's ($ 119) are decent to issue and have a reputation durability. (I've had my Speedmaster for 10 years and still work well.) For $ 219 you can have 2 coils excellent for the price of one. But if the dead "-set", whether or Torium Saltist I get (drum roll) the Torium. Go to http://www.basspro.com to read the comments of both.
